The Creek lab specialises in metabolomics, particularly in applications of metabolomics to protozoan parasites, gram negative bacteria and biofluids. In order to understand drug action from a systems perspective we perform the following analyses:
Instrumentation The lab is equipped with a Q-Exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometer, with both Nano-LC and UHPLC capabilities, for metabolomics/proteomics studies. We have access to additional advanced analytical instrumentation within the institute including 14 LC-MS platforms (Q, QQQ and Q-TOF), analytical and preparative HPLC, FTIR and UV spectroscopy and a 600MHz NMR spectrometer. Cell culture facilities enable studies of Plasmodium falciparum, Trypanosoma brucei and mammalian cell lines. Close collaboration with Prof Li's group provides access to in vitro and in vivo models for studies of gram negative bacteria including Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. |
